Technical data, on request

Tenzyle does not publish downloadable documents for platforms whose characterization is incomplete. Where a data sheet exists, it is released on request. Where it does not, the state of the work is stated instead.

Technical glossary

Terms used across the portfolio

The proportion of a fiber’s cross-section that is hollow. High lumen volume is what allows a fiber to trap still air and behave as a thermal and acoustic insulator at very low mass.

The tensile strength of a fiber expressed per unit linear density, typically in g/tex. It is the fiber-level equivalent of tensile strength for spun and nonwoven constructions.

The mass of moisture a conditioned fiber holds, expressed as a percentage of its dry mass. It affects breathability, dimensional stability and processing behaviour.

The rate at which a material conducts heat, in W/m·K. Lower values indicate better insulation performance.

Noise Reduction Coefficient — a single-figure average of a material’s sound absorption across standard frequency bands, measured here under ISO 10534-2.

Testing a composite at the laminate level rather than deriving performance from fiber values, because composite behaviour depends on the matrix, fiber orientation and process.

FAQs

Frequently asked technical questions

Tenzyle Advanced Materials is a material science and engineering company that develops natural fibers and bio-based resources into engineered material platforms for industrial applications. The work spans research, processing, characterization, blending, testing and validation. Tenzyle is not a raw fiber supplier — the output of an engagement is a specified material format with a supporting technical data package.

Nine material platforms: Kapok, Milkweed (Closed Cell™), Hemp, Organic Cotton, Banana Fiber, Bamboo, Natural Latex, Coir & Bast Fibres, and Custom Engineered Blends. Kapok, Hemp, Organic Cotton and Natural Latex have full technical data sheets available. Milkweed, Banana Fiber, Bamboo and Coir & Bast Fibres are in validation. Custom Engineered Blends are developed under enterprise engagement.

Advanced natural materials are natural or bio-based inputs that have been characterized, processed and engineered to meet a defined technical specification, rather than supplied as a commodity. The distinction is the presence of measured property data and a controlled processing route — which is what allows an engineering team to specify the material with confidence.

Through a defined sequence: feedstock selection, processing and characterization, application-specific engineering and blending, testing against named standards, and validation against the partner’s acceptance criteria. Each stage narrows variation. The final stage produces an application-ready format with published or engagement-specific technical data.

Yes. Custom Engineered Blends is a dedicated platform. A partner provides target values — a density ceiling, a tensile threshold, a thermal figure, a process constraint — and Tenzyle formulates toward that specification using portfolio platforms and, where required, compatible conventional fibers. Closed Cell™ Milkweed has been blended with cotton, silk, wool and recycled polyesters into yarns up to 30 counts.

Through the technical brief form. Technical data sheets are released for characterized platforms, and engagement-specific data is shared under a technical discussion. Where a property has not been tested, Tenzyle records it as specification to be provided rather than publishing an estimate.

A Technical Data Sheet (TDS) is a document listing a material’s measured properties, the test standard each value was measured against, and the conditions of the test. A TDS is what allows an engineering team to specify a material. Tenzyle publishes a TDS only for platforms where testing is complete.

In Validation means characterization and testing work is in progress for that platform and performance values have not yet been finalised. Technical data for platforms in validation is shared on request under a technical engagement, with the state of the work made explicit.

Natural fiber composites are materials in which a natural fiber provides the reinforcement phase within a polymer matrix. Composite performance is a laminate property — it depends on the fiber, the matrix, the fiber orientation and the processing route — so Tenzyle validates at laminate level rather than deriving part performance from fiber values alone.

Material validation is the process of confirming that a material meets defined acceptance criteria under the conditions of its intended application. It differs from characterization, which establishes what a material’s properties are. Validation establishes whether those properties are sufficient for a specific use.

Tenzyle works across seven application areas: automotive, packaging, construction, technical textiles, insulation, composites, and wider industrial applications. Platform selection differs by application — hollow-lumen fibers where thermal and acoustic performance at low mass govern, and bast fibers where tensile reinforcement governs.

Primarily in interior substrates, acoustic packages and semi-structural panels. Hollow-fiber platforms address thermal and acoustic functions at very low mass; hemp-based reinforcement is evaluated for load-path components currently specified in glass-fiber reinforced polymer. Part-level validation is defined jointly with the OEM against their acceptance criteria.

Tenzyle publishes use-case categories rather than commercial deployment claims. Where a platform has completed characterization, the measured values and test standards are stated. Application-level and part-level performance is validated with the partner during an engagement.

Anywhere a specification can be defined in measurable terms. If a requirement does not map to one of the seven published application areas, it is handled through the Custom Engineered Blends route, where the specification is the starting point for formulation.

Through four engagement models: OEM partnerships for manufacturers and product developers, industrial partnerships for companies integrating sustainable materials into existing supply chains, R&D partnerships for joint technical development, and custom material development for application-specific challenges. Each begins with a technical brief.

By taking the partner’s specification as the starting point. Candidate platforms are screened against the target values, a format or blend is formulated with the partner’s processing route treated as a constraint, and the result is tested and validated against jointly-defined acceptance criteria.

Submit a technical brief describing the application, performance requirements, required format and volume expectation. Tenzyle responds with a platform assessment and, where relevant, a proposed development and validation route. Samples and technical data follow under the terms of the engagement.
